Samsung slipped to seventh place in Global R&D Investment

Samsung Electronics one of the best manufacturers has slipped to seventh place in the Global R&D Investment 2022. The Korean tech giant has held the top spot several times in the past, but this time, it lost the lead to U.S. information and communications technology companies.

According to the input of the 2023 Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard, the Global R&D investment in 2022 amounted to 18.435 billion euros (US$20.083 billion). Therefore, Samsung has slipped to the seventh spot losing sixth place to German automaker Volkswagen (€18.98 billion).

To be mentioned, the total R&D investment of the top 2500 companies rose 12.8 percent year on year to €1.249 trillion, the highest ever last year. Samsung Electronics investment rose 10.3 percent, which was below average.
