Apple is now the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer in 2023, beating Samsung. Apple secured the first position despite a decline in global smartphone shipments.
Apple’s strong demand in Q4 2023 put Apple on the top, thanks to the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series impressive shipment numbers.
According to the IDC report, Apple shipped 234.6 million smartphone units and secured a 20.1% market share. Besides, Samsung saw a 13.6% decline YoY, with shipments of 226.6 million units, scoring 19.4% market share.

Global smartphone shipments declined 3.2% year over year to 1.17 billion units in 2023. Meanwhile, the fourth quarter saw 8.5% year-over-year growth and 326.1 million shipments, higher than the forecast of 7.3% growth.
