Sony won’t quit smartphone market for at least few more years

Samsung, the name, emerges as the first choice whenever people talk about Android smartphones. Apple is a tough competitor from different world along with a number of OEMs in the Android segment. Well, Sony will continue to make smartphones for at least few more years.

Recently, Qualcomm and Sony announced that both companies have signed a multi-year deal. This deal ensures future flagship and mid-range Sony phones to equip Snapdragon mobile platforms. This clears that the company doesn’t have any plan to stop designing smartphones.

The latest Sony 1 V comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. However, the mid-range Xperia 10 V is equipped with Snapdragon 695 and has been selling in certain European countries. Here’s what Qualcomm’s VP said on the new deal:

“We’re thrilled to continue working with our longstanding partner Sony to deliver the next generation of premium mobile technologies to consumers,” said O.H. Kwon, senior vice president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies and president of Qualcomm Asia-Pacific (APAC). “This collaboration is an exciting opportunity for us to deliver innovative user experiences to help meet the demands of consumers globally.”
