Samsung’s second December 2022 update brings Maintenance mode for Galaxy S20 users in Europe

At the start of the month, Samsung released the December 2022 security patch update for the European users of Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra. Now, these devices have again received this December 2022 security patch.

As per the information, Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphone users receiving their second December 2022 security patch update in Europe. However, the update brings a new Maintenance mode for users which was missing in the previous update.

December 2022 second security update has arrived with One UI build version G981XXUFGVL5, G986XXUFGVL5 and G988XXUFGVL5 for Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra. Whereas, the previous update contains a build version ending with GVK7.

Going by the changelog, this second December 2022 security update adds a new Maintenance mode feature to the Galaxy S20 flagship lineup. The Maintenance made is a part of the One UI 5.0 update which is available for some Galaxy devices and will be available for more in the coming days.

Notably, the update with Maintenance mode is currently rolling out in some markets of Europe, however, it will expand to more users soon. Additionally, the update also brings improved security and stability to your system to provide an optimized user interface.

The latest update contains a package size of around 470MB, and users can install it manually, by visiting the Settings department, here scroll down and tap on the Software update menu. Hit the Downlaod and Install buttons and Reboot your phone once completed.

Maintenance mode is Samsung’s One UI 5.0 feature which will hide your personal data and other information, such as photos, videos, contacts, and messages if you need to send it for repair service. Simultaneously, it will protect your privacy and prevent others from accessing your data,
