According to South Korean media reports, the sales of Samsung Electronics’ flagship models have been sluggish which can affect the brand image to a high extent. Whereas, the shipments of low-end models such as Galaxy A have enriched.

As per the analysis, the sales of the flagship models like the Samsung Galaxy S22 series have not yet obtained the planned goal of 30 million units, and it’s far to reach it. On the other side, the sales of Galaxy Flip 4 are also declining in some areas compared to Flip 3.

The reason behind this slow sale of high-end models is the software controversy and increased sales of Galaxy A, a low-end lineup. Hence, Apple widened the ASP gap with Samsung with iPhone 14 series, notably, Samsung Galaxy’s brand positioning should be considered in the global market.

Furthermore, the largest shipment of Galaxy smartphones are made up of low-end phones which are limited to some markets such as Europe, Southeast Asia, and South America. Samsung foldable phones in the rest of the market except Korea and Europe are negligible is also a mountain that must be overcome.

An industry insider also said that –

  • Galaxy has a strong flagship image in Korea, but the perception is different in overseas markets. This is why Samsung needs to put more effort into overseas markets.”
