Samsung hires semiconductor expert from rival Apple

The South Korean media platform said that Samsung Electronics recently hired a semiconductor specialist from Apple. Recently, the company established the Packaging Solutions Center at Device Solutions America (DSA) and appointed Kim Woo-pyong of Apple as its director.

Since 2014, Kim worked for Apple for nearly nine years after working for Texas Instruments and Qualcomm. In particular, the former Apple semiconductor specialist studied at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

Industry experts say it is not a good idea for Samsung to hire a semiconductor specialist from Apple, and it could bring offense in relations between both tech giants. Everyone knows, that Samsung and Apple are traditional competitors in the smartphone market.

 

We noticed that the Exynos processors are not that good as of now and cannot even compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets. However, Samsung is likely to benefit from the former Apple employee as it focuses on technology development in the packaging sector.
