Samsung Electronics constructs an additional building to produce AI chips in USA

Samsung Electronics has begun constructing an additional 2.7 million square feet building near the $17 billion semiconductor factory in Taylor, Texas, USA. This comes after the Korean tech maker decided to produce AI semiconductors at the Taylor factory.

As per the details, Samsung Electronics is adding a 2.7 million (approximately 250,000 m2) building near the $17 billion (approximately 22 trillion won) chip plant in, Texas, after filling an AI chip deal to be manufactured at the under-construction USA site.

Texas has appointed a local engineering company to develop and review Samsung Fabrication Plant 2. This plant is a part of the $17 billion project announced by Samsung Electronics in 2021 which broke ground last year with a target of starting operations in 2024.

However, Texas comes into a development agreement with Samsung that requires the City to designate resources and create expedited processes for review, approval, and inspection services related to site development and building construction activities.
