Google will now save Location History right on your device

Google continuously works to enhance the privacy of its users, and to take the experience to a new level, the maker has decided to save the location history and your timeline right on your device for Android and iOS. However, this data was initially stored in the cloud.

According to the information, Google is planning a big change to how it stores data, currently, the location history is stored on Google servers, but that data will soon be saved right on your device. This will offer users even more control over their data.

This change will be communicated to end users via the Google Maps app and its “Your Timeline” feature that provides a UI to browse and edit Location History. There will also be the option to back up your data to the cloud so it doesn’t get lost.

To be mentioned, Google is gradually rolling out this Location History and Your Timeline change to Android and iOS and you can expect to experience it in the near future.
