Google Messages Profile image will replace manually added contact photos

Google Messages app

A few days back, Google unveiled a feature that lets you set profile images for better recognition of someone sending or receiving messages. No doubt, this is an excellent step taken by Google, but here the sad part is that it will replace the contact photos that you have saved manually.

According to the information of 9to5Google, the Google Messages profile image feature will replace any previously set photo, like those that you have manually added through the Google Contacts app. Nevertheless, Google will not override the contact name you have set.

Google officially said that this new feature addresses the problem of receiving messages from phone numbers not saved in your contacts. However, it is particularly useful in group chats so that you know who all the other participants in the group are.

This feature might be useful for some, but it will also be unliked by those, who love to set their loved one’s photo on the contact and messages app. What is your opinion on this, let us know in the comment section below.
