To offer users a better communication experience, Google has added a new background wallpaper for RCS chats in Messages. The new background in the chat field consists of overlapping circles/bubbles, which makes the interface more eye-catching and relevant.
This new design in the Google Messages RCS chat is apparent when your phone is using a light theme, but very subtle and barely visible in dark mode. This feature seems to be the same as WhatsApp’s wallpaper, which lets you set a photograph or solid color for conversations.
To be mentioned, this new background currently only offers one theme as the feature is in development, but we can expect to get more options with stable releases.
