Today, Samsung announced that you can enjoy the new animated film “Elemental” by Disney and Pixar vividly in 4K HDR content on the Cinema LED screen “Onyx.”

Pixar Animation Studios mastered the new movie Elemental as 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) content exclusively for Onyx through technical collaboration with Samsung and distributed it to theaters globally.

Pixar Animation Studios plans to expand HDR content mastering in the future so that it can vividly deliver the imaginary world shown in the movie to the audience, starting with the mastering of Onyx-only content for the new Elemental.

Samsung Onyx

Onyx is the world’s first cinema LED screen introduced by Samsung. Unlike beam projectors, which are projection methods, Onyx is characterized by uniform screen expression and excellent color reproduction by directly displaying images on the screen.

The Onyx supports 4K (4,096 × 2,160) resolution, HDR picture quality, and a self-luminous LED display features vivid black with an overwhelming contrast ratio. Moreover, it features up to 300 nits of brightness that is about 6 times brighter than existing projector types.

The South Korean tech giant introduced the world’s first Cinema LED screen at Lotte Cinema World Tower located in Jamsil, Seoul, and supplied Onyx screens to a total of 120 movie theaters around the world, including CGV Wangsimni.
