Google plans to take Samsung head-on with its foldable phone

Google plans to compete with Samsung with its foldable phone

A few months ago, Google showcased its upcoming Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones. These flagship phones were good enough to compete with high-end phones from Samsung such as the Galaxy S22. But Google doesn’t seem to stop there, as it plans to take on Samsung’s foldable phone with its first foldable phone.

Recently, a well-known Weibo tipster named DigitalChatStation said that along with the Pixel flagship, Google is also working on its first foldable smartphone. He further claims that the famous contract manufacturing firm Foxconn has already started mass production of this product.

This foldable phone from Google could be called Pixel Fold or Pixel Notepad and notably, it was earlier spotted via a hidden code in the Google Camera app.

Also, the upcoming device looks more similar to the Oppo Find N than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. It sports a 5.85-inch cover display and the same set of cameras found on the Google Pixel 5 which are 12.2MP and 16MP.

Another Pixel phone that the tipster is talking about is the Pixel 7 Ultra, which will be an upgraded version of the upcoming Pixel 7 Pro. They claim that the device will feature a 2K display and ceramic body with a Sony IMX787 camera sensor and 50MP ISOCELL GN1 periscope sensor.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s new foldable are coming next week:

Samsung is set to launch two new foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, at the Galaxy Unpacked event next week. Both these phones have reportedly been substantially modified from their predecessors in some aspects like camera and display.

Can Google Fold Compete With Samsung Foldables? Well, nothing can be said at this time. Galaxy foldable has improved a lot over the years, plus, the addition of One UI 4.1.1 (Android 12L) will work more effectively as it has some additional features that are specifically optimized for foldable.
