Last November, Lee discussed expanding business cooperation with Nadella during an overseas business trip to virtual and augmented reality and next-generation technologies such as the Metaverse.

Lee is also expected to meet Peter Weinink, Chief Executive of Dutch semiconductor equipment maker ASML, on Wednesday.

ASML is the world’s only producer of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines, which are essential for the manufacture of advanced chips. South Korea is one of the company’s largest markets, where industry leader Samsung Electronics Co. is one of the company’s largest.

The Dutch company will hold the groundbreaking ceremony for a large chip cluster on the same day in Hwaseong, about 40 kilometers south of Seoul.

ASML will invest 240 billion won ($181 million) in the 16,000-square-meter ASML Hwaseong Semiconductor Cluster, which will include a manufacturing plant and a training center.
