Samsung retains first position in Indian smartphone market in Q4 2022: Report

For a long time, Samsung was missing its glamour due to various reasons but now again the Korean tech firm has started to get its position back from other manufacturers like Xiaomi. In simple words, Samsung has regained its first position in the Indian smartphone market.

Recently, Canalys shared the report of the Indian smartphone market for Q4 2022 in which the Korean tech giant has attained the first position after a long break of 20 quarters. To be mentioned, Xiaomi the chinese firm has slipped to third and Vivo retained the second position.

According to the shared report, Samsung shipped 6.7 million units for a market share of 21%, whereas Vivo being on the second position has sold 6.4 million smartphones with a market share of 20%. Additionally, Xiaomi shipped 5.5 million units with a market share of 17%.

Moving on, Oppo was reported in the first position with a shipment of 5.4 million units and a market share of 17%, and Realme shipped 2.7 million units in quarter 4 of 2022 in India. To be mentioned, Indian smartphone has fallen by 27% to 32.4 million in Q4 2022.

Sanyam Chaurasia, Analyst at Canalys said-

  • With strength in the retail channel to drive volume, Samsung continues to target consumers across routes to the market.
