- Rebadged Galaxy A55 5G: The Quantum 5 will likely mirror the Galaxy A55 5G, with enhanced security.
- Delayed Release: The launch was postponed until the third quarter due to certification delays.
Samsung is gearing up to introduce its latest smartphone, the Quantum 5, in collaboration with SK Telecom, with an expected release date next month. This upcoming device, intended solely for the South Korean market, will be exclusive to SK Telecom’s network. It is anticipated to be a rebadged Galaxy A55 5G version, featuring bolstered security measures.
The launch initially planned for an earlier date, has been pushed to the third quarter of the year, potentially by late August or early September. This delay is attributed to a hold-up in Samsung’s radio certification process.
The Quantum 5 (SM-A556S) will incorporate cutting-edge quantum security technology. It is expected to mirror the Galaxy A55 5G in terms of specifications and design, including a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity O display, Exynos 1480 processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a 32-megapixel front camera. The device will be powered by a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging and will run Android 14-based One UI 6.1. However, it will not feature Galaxy AI, a functionality reserved for flagship models.
This marks the first time a Quantum smartphone has been released so late in the year, as previous models were launched in the first half of the year.
In related news, Samsung has recently apologized for issues with its Galaxy Buds 3 series. Initial units had rubber ear tips made from subpar material, which led to them tearing during cleaning or replacement.
