A report suggests that Google is testing apps showing ads directly in Play Store searches. When a user taps the search box on the Play Store, it usually immediately opens the keyboard and shows the user the last four searches.

But the 9To5Google staff said that clicking the search box on the Google Play Store app version 33.0.17-21 will show three apps that have not been searched or interacted with and are all games with icons.

Also, previous search results will only appear after the user has entered a letter in the search box using the keyboard. Past queries will appear first, followed by autocomplete suggestions.

At this time, it is not clear whether these apps appear in the Play Store search box for paid. The latest November Play System update does include “a new format for search results” and “new features to help you discover your favorite apps and games.” Play store search changes may have something to do with this.
