2 Ways to Unlock Your Samsung Phone

5 Android Features Most of You Didn’t Know

The settings of the Android operating system can be changed to customize your smartphone as per your requirement. In this article, we are highlighting 5 lesser-known features in this article for you to try on your Android phone and become a pro user.

Auto-unlock in car

You want your phone to automatically unlock when you are driving. This allows anyone to play their favorite music and open a map without entering a code.

Android is able to achieve this by detecting your car radio as a “trusted” Bluetooth device, which verifies ownership of your phone.

From the Settings menu, navigate to Security, Smart Lock, and Trusted devices. After completing the short setup process, your phone will automatically unlock when it detects your car radio.

Turn on Wi-Fi automatically

When you’re out and about, turning off your Wi-Fi preserves your phone’s battery and increases security. However, Android 10.0 and 11.0 may automatically turn your phone’s Wi-Fi back on if you already have a strong, reliable Wi-Fi network that you use.

Next to Wi-Fi Settings from the Settings menu, select Network & Internet, now Wi-Fi. Finally, activate the toggle button labeled “Turn on Wi-Fi automatically.”

Notifications priority

The latest Android versions also allow you to give higher priority to different notification types from a certain app. For example, on Gmail, you can select to receive loud alerts for important emails and quiet alerts for regular updates.

To select a specific app, open Settings, hit Apps & notifications, or touch Get all to see a list of all available apps. Select Notifications to view them and set different sounds for each, as different apps will provide different types of notifications.

Switch between apps quickly

Quick switching between apps isn’t an Android setting, but it’s a really helpful shortcut nonetheless. A tap on the square sign in the navigation bar, which is the preview button on Android 8.0, opens a tabbed view of all your open apps.

On the other hand, double-tapping the button lets, you quickly switch from the app you’re currently using to the one you were previously using.

On Android 11, although there are no buttons, you can still switch between apps without any noticeable lag. To quickly jump to the next open app while in the app, quickly swipe up from the bottom of the screen and then to the right.

Modify emoji mode

By clicking the emoji button to the left of the space bar, you can display emoji on the built-in Google Keyboard for Android. But did you know that by simply pressing and holding on to a specific icon, you can bring up emojis with different skin tones or genders? This works with most emoji that represent individuals or body parts, like a thumbs-up.
